Healthy Kids Program

Dear Royal Families, 
We’re pleased to announce that Romulus CSD is partnering with Healthy Kids, a program recognized by New York State, to bring a certified after-school care program to our campus. While Healthy Kids operates independently from Romulus CSD, we are hosting their program in our school as a convenient option for families and as an alternative to KidSafe, which will no longer be offered at Romulus.
 
The goal is to have the program ready to begin on the first day of school, it may start a few weeks later depending on the timing of NYS approvals.
 
Program Highlights:

  • Cost: $6.00/hour (billed monthly)
  • Financial Assistance: Child Care Subsidy applications available on the Healthy Kids website– families receive 4 free weeks while applications are processed. Depending on income, some families may not have any out-of-pocket cost.
  • Sibling Discount available
  • Staffing: 1 adult for every 10 children (initial capacity of 20 students)- there is a possibility of expansion based on interest. Waitlists are developed based on a first come, first served basis.
  • Activities include: Homework help and tutoring
  • Additional Options:
    • “School’s Out” full-day care on non-student days when staff still report
    • Possible summer session to wrap around summer school or rec programs based on future interest
  • Safety: All staff background-checked and fingerprinted per NYS guidelines
  • Employment Opportunities: Romulus staff and out-of district personnel may apply to work in the program through Healthy Kids and become an employee of Healthy Kids during the time the program is in session.

 Please Note:

  • The program will not operate on snow days.
  • All billing and paperwork is handled directly by the Healthy Kids regional office.
