Greetings Romulus Families:

This year I am pleased to let you know about our new newsletter.  The newsletter will be a PK-12 newsletter and it will be accessed digitally!  We will print a few hard copies that will be available in the main office, but the best access can be found on line.  This may be an adjustment, but as we move forward in the digital age, we feel that this will be the best way for families and community members to access information about the school.  This year my letter in the newsletter will be divided into elementary and secondary topics. Our new entrance procedures will begin as soon as the materials arrive.  Once it is finished, you will be required to show your license in order to enter the school.

Elementary: This summer we ordered quite a bit of new furniture for the elementary classrooms.  The furniture helps us to personalize the seating choices of students. As it comes in from suppliers, our classrooms are truly becoming unique spaces.  Be sure to ask your children about their new furniture. This year our announcements will be recorded and sent as a news broadcast. After that, all classes will be doing a brief yoga exercise.  We kicked off our 7 Habits of Happy Kids last week. Each month a different grade level will be responsible for the presentation. We will be selecting characters of the month, who will get doughnuts with Deputy Eldredge, and we will be having a year end waffle bar celebration!  We have some events coming up that we would like you to be aware of. Construction will start soon on the elementary gym. This will impact the exit by the Kindergarten rooms during fire drills. On Friday October 16th we will be hosting the first makerspace night of the school year from 5-7.  Please come out and enjoy the fun. The PTCC is hosting a fall festival on Saturday October 27th outside during the day. Our annual Halloween parade will occur on October 31st at 1:00.

Secondary: Our students and staff will need to be flexible this year due to the construction project.  Construction on the second floor will begin on Columbus Day. Teachers have moved rooms and some are bunking up with each other.  Students will have limited access to the upstairs and our lockers are limited. At the beginning of the year, students were given the choice to have a locker or not.  Many chose not to have one for the year. If your student would like a locker, we do have a few left so they should contact Mrs. McCusker. We hosted Freshman, Junior, and Senior parent nights; thanks for everyone who came.  We had a successful Homecoming with a fun pep rally and bonfire on Friday and a dance on Saturday. Our sports teams are starting to wrap up the fall regular seasons and will be moving on to sectionals. It is never too late to come out and cheer for your favorite Warrior.  The ASVAB test will be given on Wednesday October 10th and the PSAT test will be given on Wednesday October 17th. Lastly on October 24th we will be hosting a blood drive.

Thanks for a great start to the school year.  We will be having early dismissal on October 12th and no school on October 26th so that the teachers can attend professional development.
